Environmental Innovation Network
Across America, businesses both large and small are developing new ideas, inventing new technologies and changing the way they interact with the environment. However, they often struggle to find investors, customers, partners, and policy advocates. In response, BCLC’s Environmental Innovation Network (EI Network) initiative seeks to identify, raise awareness, and promote business solutions and other contributions to environmental innovation.
- Advancing R&D and Product and Technology Innovations for Environmental Progress
- Stimulating Local, Regional, and National Green Market Development
- Sharing Financial Service and Project Investment Tools for Environmental R&D
- Identification and Advancement of Business Resource Management Practices
- Cultivating Awareness of Green Supply Chain Opportunities
- Capturing Lessons Learned and Best Practices in Promoting Environmental Innovation
Small Business Technical Assistance
BCLC will partner with Green Plus to create the Business Help Line to support small businesses and local chambers seeking to become more environmentally innovative and who want to share their lessons on a national scale with other businesses and chambers.
Regional “Green” Market Development Research and Planning Services
BCLC will partner with Climate Prosperity to provide businesses and chambers with information and resources about issues related to environmental innovation, including market research and regional clean economy development plans.
Information and Communication Services
BCLC will feature a mapping tool to showcase promising private-sector environmental initiatives. Companies that are selected to be included on the map will be able to use the interactive tool as a way to tell their story to stakeholders, while the map overall will serve as an educational piece about the private sector creating positive change on tough environmental challenges. BCLC will also publish periodic research and news on issues affecting market-driven environmental innovation, and will provide additional communication outreach to engage the public in the findings.
The Environmental Innovation Network will organize regional forums in 2011-2012 in the Southwest, the Northwest, the Midwest, and the Southeast. Regular working group conference calls and meetings will supplement the regional forums and will advance the priority issues.
