Corporate Culture Shock: Profit AND Principles


Anyone who pays even the slightest attention to business ethics couldn’t help but catch the scathing op-ed piece by Greg Smith in last week’s New York Times. Smith lambasts his (now former) employer, Goldman Sachs, for a company culture that he says put more emphasis on turning a profit than on respecting and serving clients. Sadly, this does not do much to boost business’ credibility in the eyes of the public.

As a Senior Fellow for the Foundation, Richard helps lead the Corporate Citizenship Center's efforts to engage the business community in managing sustainable supply chains, building non-profit capacity, and responding to disasters. In addition to his role at the Foundation, Richard also founded Crespin Enterprises, a boutique consulting firm advising companies and nonprofits on how to work and play better together in tackling big social problems.

Haiti Two Years Later: Businesses that Help Rebuild a Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) introduced an online portal, "Haiti: Two Years Later," to mark the two years that have passed since the country experienced the devastating earthquake.  The portal’s focus is on the entrepreneurial opportunities for rebuilding and social progress that exist today in Haiti, as well as the important role business investments, including CSR programs, are playing.

Quarterly Health and Wellness Working Group Member Meeting

The Business Civic Leadership Center is hosting our next quarterly health and wellness working group member meeting on January 18th from 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the US Chamber headquarters (1615 H Street NW).
